R23 — Bloktoberfest

Hi Creatifriends,

Get your arctek plows ready — there’s a lot to harvest in R23!

The biggest change you’ll notice in this one is our refined hotbar UI, which aims to make equipping the new farming and ranching tools more intuitive. But that’s just the appetizer. The main course is our largest block update yet: a smorgasbord of stairs, roofs and walls to spice up your decor. Feast your eyes upon these…

Roof 'n Stairs!

Good news for anyone playing in Europe — you can now select servers closer to your crib. We’re hoping it helps improve lag in multiplayer (e.g. less delay when friends are pulling blocks). It will only apply to new worlds you create after making the switch. Let us know how it feels if you try it.

A couple noteworthy improvements:

      1) We spent a good amount of time refining player movement. Jump around, run up some stairs, walk on some slabs and feel the difference.
      2) We’ve overhauled recipes for power cells, armor, and weapons. Our goal was to better encourage surface exploration in the adventurer progression.

As always, we welcome your insightful feedback on this update!

R21: Welcome to the Customization Nation !

R21

The R21 is a love letter to custom builders. First up, personalize your blueprints by swapping out the materials for any block you want. Go ahead and make that all-ladder gazebo you’ve been waiting to show the world! Also, you’ll now see a ghosty pre-vision of your blueprint so you know how it’ll look before you get started.

Last time we mentioned block rotation would be getting better, and it just did. Now you can rotate almost any block to any position you desire. So go ahead and channel your inner Ruby Rhod and shout : “I WANT ALL POSITIONS!”.

Finally, because so many of you asked for it, we’ve added permission settings to chests, stations and other interactables. Keep all your precious lumite safe from “friends”.

And now for some delicious patch notes…

R19 – Let’s Go Shopping!

We’ve got a treat in store for you today. Pun intended — it’s the return of the STORE! Not seen in the wild since last fall, the store is packing a few things you’ll recognize, like fireworks and stained glass. There are also fancy new recipe packs. But the thing we’re most excited about is a new feature called Blueprints.

R19

Blueprints will make a master builder out of anyone by providing step-by-step instructions for building fantastic structures in your world. The best part is once you start one, anyone in the world can participate for an fun team building experience. This current version of blueprints is just the beginning — we’re planning on doing a lot with this system in the future, and we’d love to hear your thoughts about how you’d like to see it grow.

A word about store currency: we won’t be accepting real money transactions until the game goes free later this year. Until then, there’s a button in the store that will give you 10 free coins daily. Also, everyone will start with 200 coins in their account!

Lastly, we added two frequently requested features: 1) Sleep through the night! 2) Share stuff with friends by dropping items into special loot bags.

Thanks for your continued support and feedback, everyone!

R18 – A Ton of Tiny Tweaks

Greetings Creatifriends – R18 is now live!

While R18 doesn’t include any major new features, it does have a bunch of small bugfixes and balance changes, along with several tweaks and minor improvements requested by the community.

As always, the suggestions and ideas from our early access players have been incredibly valuable. We hope the changelist below reflects how seriously we take your feedback!

– The “other” Dave, substituting for Playful David this week (who is off at E3)

R17, more than a bugfix patch

R17 is here

R17

Greetings Creatifriends!

R17 was just going to be a bugfix patch. Life had other plans.

First, we got a lot of good feedback from you about R16. We’re sensitive to your concerns about Creativerse staying a creative sandbox game rather than becoming too survival focused. We still feel strongly that temperature adds a fun layer of strategy to the game, but we’ve tweaked things a bit. Now resistance potions block 100% of the environmental effects. We’ve also added a Peaceful mode that you can choose upon world creation for those of you who just want to focus on building.

Second, we ended up getting some projects done sooner than expected, which, if you know anything about software development, won’t surprise you to learn the paradox that ensued nearly unravelled the space-time continuum. Whew! So a bunch of fun stuff made its way into the game: goo blocks (JUMP AROUND!), the start of a fear and attraction system, liquid harvesting mechanics, and some extra canyon themed blocks, to name just a few. The sandbox just got a lot bigger, in other words.

Thanks again for being such awesome players and fans. Stay playful!

P.S. See some of the new stuff in action here.

R16 and the simulation mechanics of DOOOOM!

R16

Dearest Creatifriends,

For R16, we asked ourselves two questions: 1) How can we make R15’s movement changes a smoother ride? 2) How can we surprise and delight our players? For 1, we listened to all your helpful feedback and taught those goofy avatars how to be smooth operators. For 2, one guy suggested we make the game so EFFING dangerous that our players lose their minds.

Fortunately, we fired the guy who said that*, and dialed it back a bit. But we think you’ll find the world of Creativerse is just a little bit more mysterious and treacherous. See for yourself; take a stroll down the lava or corruption layer, or go on hike up in the snowy mountains. You’ll also notice funky temperature-related effects transforming ice, lava and other materials depending on where they are. This changes things. In fact, you could potentially log into your world to find an apocalyptic wasteland ruled by leather clad pigsys demanding participation in their Thunderdome (two Mirus enter, one Miru leaves).** But the world is also more beautiful now too. Watch what happens to patches of dirt over time.

Let’s talk about toys. Because R16’s got ‘em. It starts out with an extensive set of canyon themed blocks, perfect for civilizing the canyons with a vacation home, complete with a Dustevil and Trog observation deck. Then we decided to add something a select few of you have been waiting for since we teased them several months ago: FANS!!! The new movement system means these jet fueled blowers are ready for prime time (pro tip: don’t use them for drying hands). But wait, there’s more: ice slopes, which offer you a whole new way to get around. Teleporters are so 2014. These days the cool kids are slipping and sliding to home base at neck breaking speeds.

It’s time to have a blast defying heat stroke and building that mansion estate the Grand Canyon was always asking for while creating fan spiked toboggan slides down to a poisonous death in the corruption layer.

Play on!

*Muted him on Creativerse for 10 minutes.

**It’s not like we didn’t warn ya!
